Wedding Cake Price and Portions
Your wedding day is one of the most important and memorable days of your life, and choosing the perfect cake is an important part of bringing your celebration together.
Whether you're planning an intimate gathering or a large wedding, your cake should reflect your style, your vision and the atmosphere you would like to create. Every design is developed individually, ensuring your cake feels personal to you and perfectly suited to your day.
The information below helps you understand the different options available and give you a clear guide to wedding cake pricing.
We believe wedding cake pricing should be clear and flexible.
The final cost of your cake is based on two factors: the number of servings required and the complexity of the design. This allows you to choose a design that suits both your vision and your budget.
If you'd like a larger statement cake without increasing the number of servings, dummy tiers can be incorporated into the design. Dummy tiers are decorated in exactly the same way as edible tiers and contribute to the overall appearance of the cake. As they do not contain cake, filling or other edible components, you only pay for the dummy tier itself together with the covering, decorative work and finishing required to create the design
For larger weddings, some servings can be provided as cutting cakes rather than incorporated into the display cake itself. Because cutting cakes do not require decorative finishing, they offer a more cost-effective way to increase guest servings while allowing the main cake to remain focused on the design, proportions and visual impact you would like to achieve.
This flexible approach means your cake can be tailored to your guest numbers, design preferences and budget without compromising on style.
Portions guide
Cake sizing: All of my cakes are a generous 7-8” deep, are baked using the finest of ingredients and are finished to my exacting standards. All my cakes are covered with a thin layer of white chocolate ganache before being covered with fondant in order for me to achieve a sharp, clean edge.
Portion Size: a wedding portion is defined as 1"x2"x 3.5/4’’ (HALF THE HEIGHT) which is the perfect serving!
If you don't wish to cater for all your guests, a good rule of thumb is to go for 75-80% of your total guest numbers. This usually allows for those who skip dessert, share a slice, or head straight for the dance floor.
Pricing
Each of our cake is individually designed and priced according to factors such as size, number of portions, and the level of design intricacy. Handcrafted sugar flowers, ruffles, textural elements, and other refined details require additional time and craftsmanship, all reflected in the final cost.
To make pricing as clear and transparent as possible, our cakes are divided into three design categories.
The difference between these categories is not the beauty or quality of the finished cake, but the amount of time, craftsmanship and decorative work required to create it. Below you'll find an overview of each category to help you understand how pricing is structured and which option may be the best fit for your celebration.
Cutting Cake: A cutting cake is designed to provide additional servings without the cost of decorative finishing. It is baked in the same flavour as your wedding cake but is supplied without sugarpaste covering or decorative elements. The cake is cut and plated behind the scenes by your venue, making it a practical and cost-effective way to serve larger numbers of guests.
Contemporary Design: Contemporary designs feature elegant finishes and thoughtfully selected decorative details, creating a beautiful and refined centrepiece for your celebration. These designs require a moderate amount of preparation time while still delivering a strong visual impact.
Couture Design: Couture designs are highly detailed, bespoke creations that require a significant amount of handcrafted work and production time. The complexity may come from intricate decorative elements, advanced techniques, detailed textures, large-scale arrangements or labour-intensive finishing. The difference lies not in the style itself, but in the time, craftsmanship and attention to detail required to bring the design to life.
